INTRODUCTION: Social anxiety disorder (SAD) consists of an intense and persistent fear of being observed and judged by others. Post-quarantine social anxiety in adolescents has not been studied in depth. In the present work, sociodemographic and academic factors associated with post-quarantine social anxiety in adolescents will be determined by COVID-19. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The Social Anxiety in Adolescents (SAS-A) survey was administered to high school students enrolled in 2022 in a private school in Lima. RESULTS: Females, the 14-15 years old group and those in the third year of high school scored higher on the social anxiety scale. Likewise, adolescents with siblings had lower scores on this scale. On the other hand, it was found that both sex and the presence of siblings were associated with the 3 dimensions of the SAS-A; however, age and academic year were not associated with subscale SAD-N (social avoidance of strangers or new social situations), but were associated with FNE (fear of negative evaluation) and SAD-G (social avoidance of social situations in general). CONCLUSIONS: Mental health has become more important after the pandemic, especially with regard to anxiety issues in adolescents, more studies are suggested.
