The Sayán - Churín highway is an important road work since in the future it will become a relevant alternative transportation route for the central highland and jungle region of Peru. However, this road is exposed to constant flooding that occurs in the study area in times of maximum floods, to solve this problem, the objective of this thesis is to evaluate how structural, non-traditional structural and non-structural measures applied in the environment of the Huaura River, in the Sayán - Churín sector road reduce the risk of flooding. At first, the basin under study was characterized and this information was used in the hydrological process with the HEC-HMS software to obtain as a final product the maximum flows for the return periods of 2, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100 and 500 years. Then, the hydraulic process was developed with the HEC-RAS platform to determine the areas affected (Sayán - Churín road, agricultural areas, road bridge, etc.) by the flooding of the Huaura river. Next, the risk levels were determined by intersecting the Danger vs. Physical Vulnerability layers of the road, which resulted in the final product, the Risk Levels map. Subsequently, a field visit was made to identify and compare the risk maps vs. physical reality in order to validate the information obtained in the hazard, vulnerability and risk maps. Finally, once the risk levels had been obtained, three measures were proposed (rockfill, afforestation and treated wood) in the six critical points identified in the study area. For each measure proposed, the new flood risk levels were calculated and a comparison was made between the measures proposed vs. without any measure to identify the variation in risk. According to the results, it is concluded that the proposals of the structural, non-traditional structural and non-structural measures are acceptable alternatives, because the flooding area decreases approximately 40% for a 100 and 500 year TR, with respect to the flooding areas that do not apply any type of measure, therefore, the Sayán - Churín road and the agricultural areas have less risk of being flooded by the Huaura River.
