lo cual indica que se requiere un rediseño urgente en la tarea que realizan los trabajadores;
The main objective of the present research was to conduct the evaluation and control of ergonomic risks in the checkout area of Hypermarkets Tottus S.A., in which repetitive movements and forced postures performed by the workers were identified to establish risk control measures. The study was based on a prior assessment that identified the checkout area as more susceptible to developing musculoskeletal disorders due to the tasks performed in the workplace leading to occupational illnesses. The presence of these two ergonomic risk factors was observed, both of which negatively impact worker performance. The results were as follows: an 80% high risk level was identified for repetitive movements, indicating an urgent need for redesigning the tasks performed by the workers. The remaining 20% of workers presented a high-risk level for forced postures, requiring short-term task redesign. It is crucial to take control measures to reduce the presence of these risks. Therefore, implementing active breaks during the workday is important, as it helps mitigate the negative impact on the company, which affects productivity and worker performance, ultimately leading to customer dissatisfaction due to extended waiting times for service.
