The objective of this research work was to compare the standard penetration test (SPT) and Direct Cut method; For the purposes of superficial foundations in buildings of the APV Jilayhua of the District of Yanaoca, Province of Canas, Department of Cusco, determined the friction angle and the bearing capacity of the soil. This is due to the fact that the existing works lack a prior soil study, in addition to failing to comply with the technical building standard (E.050 soils and foundations), RNE, 2018. The main contribution of this research is to make the population aware of the importance of carrying out an adequate soil study, as a significant part of the construction of a house. Analyzes were carried out from 09 standard penetration tests (SPT), count of number of blows and 09 direct cut points from pits excavations to extract undisturbed samples. All the tests were carried out in the soil and concrete laboratory of the Andean University of Cusco, where the data processing and comparison of the admissible capacity of the soils obtained was carried out. The results obtained from the tests were: the friction angle varies between 32.8 ° - 26.5 °, which is why it is said that the design of superficial foundations of the soils of the Jilayhua Pro Housing Association is suitable for construction, the profile of the soils It is heterogeneous and it was determined that the soil is silty sand with gravel and silty sand. The permeability of the soil is 0.01 cm / sec, considered as good, the admissible capacity of the soils made with SPT is 0.8202 cm and the capacity made with direct cutting is 0.7867 cm. And finally, there is no probability of occurrence of the settlement phenomenon since no clay was found and the soil does not present a water table.
