Objective: To determine if the EVARUCI scale is better in predicting pressure injuries compared to the Braden scale, in a critically ill patient in critically ill patients in the intensive care unit of the Regional Teaching Hospital of Trujillo (HRDT) during the period from January to December of 2019. Material and methods: The study is a retrospective cohort carried out in 124 patients without pressure injuries on admission to the intensive care unit of the Regional Teaching Hospital of Trujillo (HRDT), from January to December 2019. Absolute and percentage frequencies were used for qualitative variables, and means, standard deviations and interquartile range for continuous quantitative variables. To compare normally distributed continuous data, the t-test was used. For categorical variables, the Pearson Chi-Square test was considered, both with a significance level of 5% (p < 0.05). Due to the type of study chosen, the relative risk (RR) with its respective 95% confidence interval was also used. In addition, ROC curve and area under the curve (AUC) analysis were considered to determine which scale is better in predicting pressure injuries. Results: Of the total critical patients in the intensive care unit of the Regional Teaching Hospital of Trujillo (HRDT), 40.32% had a pressure injury, and of these, the mean age was 56.44 years, there were 52% men, 100% had a high risk Braden score and 96% had a high risk EVARUCI score. According to the Relative Risk (RR) analysis, the EVARUCI score showed a risk of suffering from pressure injury (RRa = 26.40; 95% CI = 5.90 – 118.13; p = 0.01) and with respect to the Braden score (RRa = 4.52; 95% CI = 2.27 – 7.32; p = 0.01), both associations being significant. Finally, when constructing the ROC curve, an area under the curve (AUC) value was evident for EVARUCI of 0.817 (95% CI 0.74-0.88) and for the Braden scale of 0.824 (95% CI 0.75-0.89) Conclusions: Both the EVARUCI and Braden scales are adequate predictors of pressure injuries. However, by comparing both scales, it was determined which EVARUCI presents a better prediction in critically ill patients
