The present study whose objective was determine the influence of the application of a social skills program in cooperative learning, through the execution of a Social Skills Program (SSP). This study was framed in the quantitative approach with a research design pre-experimental that was applied to a sample of 14 students of the sixth grade primary education of the I.E Nº 10855 public school of Motupe district, Lambayeque. The instrument used for the collection of information was “Cooperative learning questionnaire” elaborated specifically for the present investigation, taking into account the validity and reliability. The results of the post - test report significant improvements of cooperative learning with respect to pre – test, with which it is concluded that the social skills program based on the development of empathy, assertive communication, cooperation and self- control for conflict resolution, allows a positive interaction between students which contributes significantly to the improvement of cooperative learning.
