ABSTRACT The work studies the influence of inflation in the United States and China on the depreciation of the Peruvian currency, 2000 – 2021. The main objective of this research is to contrast the theory of Purchasing Power Parity in its relative form, with annual data obtained of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru. For this analysis, we use monthly series of the nominal exchange rate sol per US dollar and sol per Chinese yuan, in the same way we use the inflation rates of the United States and China. We apply Vector Error Correction (VEC) model to determine the respective influence of each country with Peru. Complying with the basic characteristics, we obtain that the model is stationary (less than 1); that is, it does not have a unit root; Likewise, there is cointegración; since, it is a long-term model. Analyzing the findings of the VEC model, it is established that the inflation differential for the United States is -0.947 and for China -0.943, which would reflect that the Relative Purchasing Power Parity is incomplete, but very close to one. Likewise, the estimated adjustment to equilibrium is -0.06 for the United States and -0.07 for China.
