Quantitative, pre-experimental research aimed to determine the effectiveness of the educational program “Nursing Counseling” at the level of knowledge of the primary caregiver about caring for the needs of the pediatric patient. The sample was made up of 38 primary caregivers of pediatric patients hospitalized in a Special Care Unit of the Virgen de la Puerta High Complexity Hospital, during the months April to June 2023. For the statistical analysis, the student t test was used to determine if the educational program “Nursing Counseling” is effective, with a significance level of 5%. The results before the application of the educational program to the primary caregiver in the level of knowledge about the care of the pediatric patient's needs were: Fair in physiological (47%), safety (53%) and belonging (39%) . After the application of the educational program, the level of knowledge of the primary caregiver increases to good in: Physiological (63%), safety (89%) and belonging (95%). In conclusion, the educational program is effective because it increased the level of knowledge by 37% with a student's T value of -6.95 and p= 0.000. Being highly significant.
