The aim of the present research was to determine the relationship that exists between communication and the quality of nursing care in mothers of newborns, Neonatology Service, Maria Auxiliadora Hospital, 2019. Descriptive-correlational research, cross-sectional, not-experimental design, whose population was 127 and the sample 96. The information was collected with a questionnaire. The reliability was made with Crombach's Alpha, in the communication it was 0, 891 and in the nursing care it was 0.857. Results: Communication in mothers of the newborn is very adequate in (52.1%), in the quality of care it was in the middle level (76%) and in the dimensions: human care high level (51%); Timely care, average level (64.6%); continuous care, average level (81.3%); safe care, average level (79.2%). We conclude that there is a direct and moderate relationship between communication and the quality of nursing care in mothers of newborns, Neonatal Service, Maria Auxiliadora Hospital. (Spearman's Rho = 817.) We recommend that the Chief of Nurses conduct assertive communication talks to improve the quality of nursing care in newborn mothers In María Auxiliadora Hospital.
