Abstract This research arose from the interest in reflecting on the role of grandparents in raising children in the ayllu. We, as future bilingual teachers, see in the high Andean and urban communities that the knowledge and values of grandparents are not part of the learning of children in EIB schools. Therefore, this work is a review of the ways in which human development is understood in the Andean culture. The role of grandparents in many societies has been undervalued, especially in the modern world where they have been taken away from their prominence in all areas, treating them as useless with nothing to contribute. On the other hand, in the Andean communities they are exalted and valued. , since if they leave them aside, much of the ancient knowledge that they are bearers of is lost, it is not transferred, which consequently causes the community to lose the cultural wealth that has been transmitted from generation to generation, which is why the Grandparents have to be participants in the upbringing of children, as well as in education, which is why it seemed vitally important to us to carry out this work. This research titled “The role of grandparents in raising children in the ayllu: Valuing grandparents in a primary school” has the objective of collecting testimonies about the role of grandparents in raising children in the ayllu. Andean communities and develop, based on this topic, a learning experience that helps strengthen and revalue the importance of grandparents. To present the information, we have organized the document into five chapters. Where in the first chapter we have raised the problem that we were able to visualize the importance of grandparents in raising children, likewise, from this we set out the objectives of the research. On the other hand, in the second chapter we base ourselves on collecting data from previous investigations, as well as all the documents that we perceive as important for the investigation where this work reviews the report regarding the EIB and ancestral knowledge, life cycle of people in the Andes, the role of grandparents in the education of children, and investigates the value that grandparents have in raising children as transmitters of traditional knowledge to strengthen cultural identity. As for the third chapter, we focus on the methodology used in this case, the study was qualitative in nature since it is based on collecting interviews and testimonies from people. Likewise, in the fourth chapter to carry out the results we focus on collecting testimonies and interviews, in the same way from the data collected we carry out a learning experience that helps strengthen the role of grandparents and finally in the fifth chapter according to the work carried out, we present the conclusions as well as the recommendations that we have been able to reach throughout the investigation. We consider that this work can help other teachers and students to get closer to the Andean culture because as we see, the knowledge of our grandparents is transmitted orally and if they do not transmit it to us, their knowledge goes with them.
