Extrinsic and intrinsic motivation are predominant factors of organizational changes and successes, so it need the main resource called "human capital", to achieve its short, medium and long-term objectives, hence the importance that staff are motivated, in any company, whether private, public or mixed. The objective is to investigate the motivation in the public servants of the administrative area of the Directorate-General for Public Defense and Access to Justice, for this purpose, an investigation question was raised, objective and its respective justification. In addition, ten bibliographic sources related to the subject under study were reviewed. In this way, the methodology of documentary analysis and analysis of academic articles was used, most importantly for our research. The results, they point out through research, that motivation is essential in administrative and business management, therefore incentives and punishments are not determining factors that drive it achieved goals and objectives, in the contrary it’s necessary to recognize, assess, incentivize the internal motivators of each individual, in order to meet their basic needs and self-realization , in order to achieve better individual and group results, for the benefit of the institution.
