In this degree work, the design of an exoskeleton for the rehabilitation of theupper right limb in patients with moderate hemiplegia has been developed, to providephysiotherapies in the elbow-hand in patients who develop a generative disease or cerebrovascular accident causing paralysis or decrease of the strength of the upper limb. Many therapists, health technologists, engineers and related professionals explored the use of biomechatronic systems (exoskeletons) in order to improve physiotherapies in upper limbs specifically in the elbow-hand.This project presents a solution to conventional elbow-hand recovery therapies, through an exoskeleton design for the upper limb. This device focuses on reducing the flaccidity of the elbow-hand of patients with moderate hemiplegia through the flexion-extension movement. The exoskeleton consists of mechanical, electronic and control systems, which allow strengthening the flexion-extension movements between the elbow-hand.The cost for the design and manufacture of the exoskeleton, including the flexion-extension mechanism in the elbow and flexion in the hand, all integrated to the end user, is S/. 800.00 approximately.
