The digitization of physical documents favors the optimization of information management and handling. The government entity presented had a slow digitization process that did not allow asynchronous work to process a large number of documents. Before the development of the application presented, the entity required a single employee to manage the entire cycle of digitization and processing of documents using a desktop application installed on physical computers dedicated to this process. In order to be able to process a greater amount of documents efficiently, a new web application was developed with a microservices architecture that can digitize and process physical documents asynchronously. The application was developed with open source technologies such as Spring Boot, Kafka, Keycloak, and was deployed in the entity's own servers to maintain the integrity of its information. The new application has accelerated the digitization process, as several employees can now collaborate in the document processing work. Likewise, the web application facilitated the access of employees to the digitization process, improving its transparency. According to the reports on the use of the application, the average processing time of a box of grouped documents was reduced by 66.7% and the application was approved for use by the entity and its employees.
