To improve the flow of information between the people who direct the execution of construction projects, this research proposes a new system where it proposes to modify three main points of the organization: 1) Change the hierarchical and centralized organizational structure, in a more horizontal and decentralized; 2) Change the distribution of information transmitted by chains of command and in a unidirectional way, in one generated by work meetings and transmitted in a bidirectional way; and 3) Change decision making and goal setting controlled by one person, to one that is defined by work group leaders independently. The proposed system was applied during the execution of a project for the recovery and improvement of the drinking water system. For this purpose, the investigation first considered knowing the current state of the project, for which the following steps were developed: 1) Diagnose the project using the Power Bi software, with the aim of knowing the general performance of labor, the causes of poor performance and the economic gains of labor; 2) Carry out an analysis of social networks using the “Social Network Analysis (SNA)“ methodology and the Gephi software to understand the functioning of the informal structure and identify the variables of social dynamics and 3) Analyze and define what are the main causes that they generate the deficient flow of information in the investigated project. After evaluating and analyzing the ongoing construction process, the investigation determined that the main causes of the poor information flow of the project were: excessive centrality within the organization, great distancing of power in the organizational structure, transmission in one direction of the distribution of information, poor dissemination of information and little effectiveness in the information medium. These factors caused the workers to wait a long time before starting their activities or they begin to execute making decisions outside of what was planned, causing the performance of the workers to decrease and thus increase the cost of labor for the project. During the implementation of the proposed system, the analysis of social networks and the measurement of the labor yields of the project were carried out, to compare and identify the variation of the productivity and the profits of the project. These data showed the success of the implementation of the proposed system in the project studied. The research was developed in 4 main points: 1) Research methodology, in this chapter the necessary steps to achieve the proposed objective were shown; 2) Information flow system proposal, in this chapter the studied project was described, a diagnosis was made to the studied work and the information flow system was proposed; 3) Implementation of the proposed system, in this chapter the necessary changes were applied to optimize the flow of information and generate a decentralized organizational structure; 4) Analysis and discussion of results, in this chapter the changes generated in the social dynamics of the organization and the performance of the workers were shown, as well as a comparison of the results obtained before and after the implementation of the proposed system.
