The present thesis topic, entitled: “Application of a solution design method for the architecture of a channels architecture in a financial institution“ is about the use of a methodological approach for the elaboration of the architecture of an information system, which should be common for the development and implementation of any complex system. While the term architecture is already used in information systems for more than 50 years, most of the studies focus on enterprise architecture or software architecture. These concepts focus, on the first case, in the planning of the use of information technology at a high level to support the transformation of a company and in the second case, in the definition of the specifications of the components that must be coded in an IT system. For much of my career in the IBM del Peru S.A.C., I have been faced many situations where the objective of the different projects was to have successful and comprehensive information systems and it is precisely the usage of this method what I intend to present in this work. Specifically, I have selected a complex project where the different phases and activities of this method have been applied. Chapter I makes a general introduction to the method used, including the evolution of this method and the description of the different activities to be executed from this method. Chapter II presents the business environment of the selected customer as well as the business problem to attack. Chapter III describes the proposed solution including a component model and an operational model. The risks identified and the actions taken to contain these risks are also presented here. This chapter is concluded by listing the tools used. Chapter IV presents the conclusions and achievements of the implementation of this project, as well as recommendations for the dissemination of the method for reuse in other projects, guaranteeing lower risks and more successful projects. To finish, the bibliography and annexes are found.
