Currently the development of BIM for road infrastructure is still scarce, thus only a few lights of development are seen in a small handful of countries. While it is true, this methodology is relatively young for Latin American engineering, BIM is rapidly taking over the construction sector and is leading it to develop the industry to magnitudes never imagined. In the construction sector in Peru, examples of projects developed with this methodology can be cited, such as the Banco de la Nación building and the Videna project, with certain limitations; However, the same is not the case with the road infrastructure sector, despite the fact that technology has developed greatly in recent years. Today in the country most of the specialized institutions still follow traditional methodologies, which entails an enormous loss of information in the stages of conceptualization, design, construction and maintenance of a road infrastructure. The design of a road infrastructure project with the BIM methodology entails the global management of information from its conception and throughout its useful life. Which means the total control of a project, able to adapt intelligently to the necessary changes and reformulations, as well as the maintenance of this, without forgetting the management of the environment. To achieve the most complete administration of a road infrastructure project, with the possibility of making early construction simulations, the implementation of the BIM (Building Information Management) methodology is required because it provides the opportunity for absolute and transparent management with minimal possibilities. in information losses during all stages of the project cycle (planning, design, construction and maintenance). This approach to the implementation of the BIM methodology in road infrastructure projects is equivalent to BIM in buildings; However, it has its own peculiarities, as well as its own challenges, therefore the model that is formulated to achieve this objective is the geometric design and 3D modeling with BIM tools for the definitive study of a third-class road located in the Cusco region.
