The present work of professional sufficiency designs and implements the control strategies for the automatic pumping of paste into pits inside the mine, using a distributed control system (DCS) System 800xA from ABB and industrial technologies for the control, communications and instrumentation. For this purpose, an analysis related to the operation procedure of the Plant was carried out, to identify the most relevant characteristics of the processes (operating data, main variables to control, equipment and instruments used) and thus propose a comprehensive solution for the strategies of control. This included the configuration and integration of the equipment and instruments in the control system, the design of the control loops, the selection of the control actions, the adjustment and tuning of the control loops, and finally the design of the strategies for automatic synchronization of equipment and instruments with control loops. Running tests at the end. Automatic controls with properly implemented control loops were established, integrating the equipment and instruments in a decentralized architecture, for efficient control of the process. The results show compliance with the requirements of the operation, such as the remote control and supervision of the equipment, the control and regulation of the main operating variables (tailings flow, tailings weighing, cement weighing, volume of water) and the automatic operation of the Plant.
