The objective of this research was to identify the content of the social representations of virginity in 6 adolescent female students from a religious school. The ages of the participants were between 14 and 17 years old. Among the information gathering techniques, the successive hierarchical Tris technique was used, which allowed visualizing the nucleus of the representation. The semi-structured interview gave access to the beliefs, opinions, information and attitude directed at the study phenomenon. Among the main results, it was found that the content of their social representations is strongly influenced by the devaluation, criticism and rejection by all the socializing agents in their environment. These representations create feelings of sadness, guilt and regret at the loss of virginity. It also fosters positive stereotypes of girls who retain their virginity and negative stereotypes for those who decide to lose it at an early age. In addition to the aforementioned, religion causes girls to attribute characteristics such as innocence and purity to virgin girls. Finally, the gender roles and myths of romantic love are quite internalized, which, according to the participants' perception, influence the way in which boys and girls interact and how they perceive their virginity in general.
