ABSTRACT The purpose of this research was to determine the relationship between academic procrastination and parental socialization styles in students of pre-university academies in Trujillo. We worked with a non-experimental, cross-sectional research design. The sample was randomly selected probabilistic leaving a total of 297 students, whose ages range from 17 to 19 years. The instruments applied were the Tuckman Academic Procrastination Scale, adapted by Furlan (2010) and the Scale of Parental Socialization in Adolescence (ESPA 29) Musitu and García (2001). Results show that there is a relationship between academic procrastination and the style of parental socialization for the father (p = 0.02) but not the mother's (p = 0.231); also in the case of academic procrastination, 65% of students reflect a low level, finally 67% of the sample has an authoritative parental socialization style for both parents. Keywords: Academic Procrastination, Styles of parental socialization, Adolescence.
