ABSTRACT The main objective of the present research is to propose an improvement in the process of readings of drinking water meters in the northern area of Sedapal that positively impacts the reduction of operating costs and increase of the monthly valuation of the Sedapal CONTRACTOR in the year 2017; For its development has resorted to theoretical and conceptual bases of management of quality processes; Concepts, which have served as guidelines for the use of analysis and development tools of the present research. Statistical quality methods have been used as well as different problem analysis tools such as: Ishikawa diagram, the five reasons, process segmentation and the Pareto diagram. In development of the specific objectives, the defects in the process of taking water meters have been identified, the same that has been analyzed according to the development of the process, being able to identify the impact with more relevance through Pareto analysis, such as: Defects in the database sent by SEDAPAL, identification of readings anomalies, errors of reading by the taker of status and work load to each operator of state take. With results obtained in the present investigation it is reflected that the CONTRACTOR has valued a total of 5,109,718 readings for the total S /. (August-2015 August-2016). 8'388,316.28 Also due to the deficiencies found in the process of taking of state to stop valuing S /. 1'248,099.19 New Soles. In the same way, its operating costs during the year were S /. 1'675,125.18 New soles, expense that has a considerable impact on the profitability of the Consortium. Finally, in order to obtain a greater scope, the results have been projected in 18 months, the remaining time of the contract being able to determine that Contractor may have a saving in operating costs of 1'855, 522.73 and an additional income for valid readings For S /. 1'382, 518.84; Savings and income that will significantly impact the CONTRACTOR's profitability. KEYWORDS: process management, state-making process, quality tools, operating costs.
