The dissertation: “Adaptation of a research model based on Business Intelligence that allows identifying export markets for Trujillo’s clothing industry - 2014“ has as main objective to recommend a methodology for the selection of potential export markets, using business intelligence tools adapted to the needs of the sector under study. Its usefulness lies in providing quality information -both quantitative and qualitative - to serve as input for the decision making in strategic business processes that employs it. This research work consists of eight chapters and six appendices that detail everything from the process of gathering preliminary information to the construction of the research model and its subsequent implementation through a practical example. It has also succeeded in describing the current state of Trujillo’s clothing industry and identifying key business information needed by the MSEs 1 . Among the most relevant points of the analysis lies the fact that the vast majority of companies have not yet managed to export their products and despite their progress, there are still some serious deficiencies regarding accessibility to commercial information and management problems. What is also intended with this dissertation is to provide a methodological and applicative guide for entrepreneurs, students and teachers on the use of business intelligence tools, criteria for the selection of markets and commercial research structure. As professionals in management and international business, we believe that the development and progress of the region can be enhanced with increased exports of both traditional and non-traditional products; and a key point to promote such development is the creation and dissemination of trade information. With the aim to promote this entrepreneur culture, we present to you the information collected in this dissertation.
