In Peru, there is currently no specific maintenance plan for flexible pavements, which jeopardizes the durability and performance of the country's roads. This lack of adequate planning can lead to accelerated deterioration of roads, negatively affecting the safety and efficiency of land transportation. Therefore, the present research with hydrated lime micro surfacing is proposed as a technical and economical solution to the problem of road maintenance in Peruvian streets. In this research, the effectiveness of micro surfacing with the addition of hydrated lime is analyzed using the PCI (Pavement Condition Index) methodology and the Marshall test for asphalt mix design. Several tests were carried out to determine the mechanical properties and strength of the pavement, using different percentages of asphalt cement and hydrated lime. The results of the Marshall test showed that the mix with 8% asphalt cement and 1% hydrated lime complies with all technical specifications, showing optimum values for air voids,V.M.A, filled voids, flow, compaction index and retained stability, suggesting excellent durability and strength of the mix. The incorporation of hydrated lime in the micro surfacing not only improves mechanical properties, but also reduces susceptibility to permanent deformation and fatigue cracking. The use of hydrated lime micro surfacing has a significant economic advantage over conventional MC-2 pavement, as its cost can be up to three times lower. This method not only reduces initial material and application costs, but also lowers long-term maintenance costs by providing greater durability and resistance to cracking and deformation, resulting in a more efficient and sustainable option for pavement rehabilitation.
