--- This study “level of knowledge and opinion with nursing students on the San Marcos University Hildegard Peplau theory by year of study “has The general objective of determining the level of Knowledge and Opinions of nursing students on the theory of Peplau by year of studies, and specific objectives, identify the level of knowledge of nursing students on Hildegard Peplau theory by year of studies and describe the views of nursing students about the importance of applying theory Hildegard Peplau by year of study. The methodological design used was a descriptive cross-sectional. The population consisted of all nursing students from first to fifth year of study at the San Marcos. The technique used was the survey and the instruments used were a questionnaire and a opinionario. Some of the most relevant results were: half a level of knowledge on Peplau's theory for the years of second, third and fourth, a low level of knowledge (88.5%) for first year students, a high level of knowledge ( 48%) followed by a level of knowledge a half (44%) for the fifth year which strikes us as he would be having a negative effect on the relationship established by the student with the patient causing concern as they are in constant contact to users within their pre-professional. The opinion referred to by nursing students on the importance of the theory of Hildegard Peplau in the first year was unfavorable (80.8%), followed by a mildly favorable opinion favorable trend for the years of second, third ix and fourth. In relation to the fifth year the majority issued a favorable opinion (60%) followed by moderately favorable (36%).Results that could be because students still face difficulties regarding the use of theory or do not know about its applicability may influence the attitude to take over the care they provide to patients, families and community. -- KEY WORDS: Nursing students, knowledge, opinion, theory of Hildegard Peplau.
