Soft soils can be counterproductive for construction due to their resistance, deformation and permeability. This research analyzes the behavior and characteristics of these soils during the preliminary preparation for the construction of the passenger terminal of the Chinchero International Airport in Cusco (AICC). In turn, it is proposed that the soil achieve its settlement through a more accelerated consolidation through the use of vertical drains spaced at 1.60 m and the application of preload of 75 kN/m² that transmits Terminal A to Soil A and 50 kN /m² that transfers Terminal B to Soil B. To do this, the design was modeled in Plaxis 2D to then study the behavior of the nodes of the finite element mesh of the strata through the diagrams generated according to the measurement indicators, such as settlement, time and pore pressure. This is how it was obtained that the consolidation time in Soil A decreased from 2,227 days to 89 days with a maximum settlement of 93.35 cm and in Soil B the consolidation time was optimized from 7,961 days to 142 days with a maximum settlement 84.80 cm. In this way, the veracity of the proposal is verified according to the parameters and results of geotechnical tests in the study area.
