Currently, the Peruvian metalworking sector has reprocessing problems, downtime and defective products, which generate low efficiency and make it difficult to achieve optimal production capacity. Although the aforementioned industry is one of the most important for the national economy within the manufacturing sector, it has had a considerable drop in GDP of 38.7% due to the global health crisis generated by covid-19. In this sense, the present study aims to improve productive efficiency in a company in the metalworking sector, through an improvement proposal based on the application of LM philosophy tools. Low efficiency in the production of metallurgical products generates undue overwork of workers, which is caused by inefficient maintenance management. That is why this article focuses on the implementation of the SMED tool, in order to improve installation times, as well as the TPM methodology through the autonomous and planned pillars. The proposed model will be validated using simulation, considering production variables, production indicators, support tools and innovative procedures generated. Through the implementation, the efficiency level was increased from 88%, as well as the configuration time variation increased by 9%. These results will allow increasing the productive efficiency of the company under study, which will represent the viability of application for companies in the sector.
