Currently, Lima is one of the most prominent urban centers in Latin America, where it faces considerable challenges in terms of urban accessibility for vulnerable people. Despite progress in road and urban infrastructure, significant barriers persist that hinder the mobility of pedestrians with disabilities or conditions of vulnerability to move independently. Therefore, specific interventions are required to improve urban accessibility, both in the planning and execution of engineering projects. This work focuses on urban design principles based on universal accessibility, promoting the idea of an environment for all citizens in areas of transportation and urban planning. The main objective is to propose an accessible design for vulnerable people at the intersection of Brasil Avenue with Police Avenue and Jr. Cabo Nicolás Gutarra, which limits the district of Jesús María and Pueblo Libre. To do this, accessibility problems for pedestrians in the area were identified using a checklist. Subsequently, we use the Likert scale to understand the degree of pedestrian satisfaction through two satisfaction surveys in our scenario: one about the current geometric design and another about potential improvements. The proposals offer alternatives to increase the accessibility of vulnerable pedestrians through the use of Peruvian norms and international standards, taking into account the Wayfinding concept. Finally, validation is carried out through expert judgment, obtaining an average of 4.18, which means that the proposal is “VERY GOOD” for implementation in the study area. Through the collection of comments from pedestrians and experts, a final rethinking of the design is carried out taking into account their needs, suggestions and criticisms.
