In translation, different tools are used to make the translation process more effective. Due to this, as technology advances, more tools are being developed with artificial intelligence, among the well-known machine translators: Google Translator and DeepL. These tools can be easily accessed, as many of them are free and can be used as a complement to the translation process. One of the tools with great advances in context understanding is the ChatGPT, created by OpenAI. This tool has become one of the most popular in recent months, as its peak since the end of 2022. For this reason, the present research seeks the textual production resulting from the translation process of specialized medical texts: informed consents and clinical trial protocol, using the ChatGPT by Translation and Interpreting students in order to assess the use of the ChatGPT as a support in this process. Regarding the methodology, two techniques are proposed: content analysis and focus group. The first will help to analyze the translation processes, and the second to interview the students involved to learn about their experience with the use of the tool.
