The purpose of this work is to increase the availability of the air cooled condenser system of a thermoelectric plant, a current availability that currently generates an economic impact of 0.06% of net profits, amounting to the sum of US$95,860.00 annually. The work begins by describing the company, the problems it faces, detailing the technical gap and the economic impact, the possible threats if it continues with its operations without solving the problem. Likewise, the analysis of the causes that give rise to the main problem is detailed, objectives are set and the proposal for improvement is presented. The improvement proposal is based on the implementation of the RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) methodology, through which the process is studied in detail, the failures are determined, how they fail, the causes and the consequences that they bring with them. To prevent the consequences of these failures from occurring again, preventive measures were implemented based on new procedures, vibration monitoring, replacement, and reconditioning of components and equipment during certain periods. Plan preventive maintenance of the equipment taking advantage of the scheduled washing of the air cooled condenser panels, which requires stopping these equipment, without having to stop them on another occasion, which affects the availability of the air cooled condenser. The cost of implementing this proposal is lower than the amount of the economic impact; the implementation of this technique is supported with little investment and a good return on investment.
