The main objective of this research is to propose the incorporation of home automation in multi-family housing buildings and to demonstrate the feasibility, economic savings and recovery time of the initial investment for the proposal, thus contributing to sustainable constructions and the reduction of the carbon footprint in our country. For this, the energy consumption of a conventional multi-family building dwelling and the consumption of 4 automated buildings belonging to socioeconomic sectors A and B of Metropolitan Lima were analyzed comparatively and quantitatively. In addition, a project with similar characteristics was chosen with the architectural distribution of the selected buildings, with the aim of estimating the energy and economic savings that would be generated as a result of the incorporation of home automation. Based on the results obtained, it was possible to demonstrate that the automated multi-family housing buildings have an average energy and economic saving of 57.62% in the apartments and a saving of 48.10% in the common areas. Likewise, based on the energy savings indicated, a reduction of 4.88 tons of CO2 could be obtained annually in an automated house. Finally, it was shown that the initial investment to incorporate home automation in a multi-family dwelling can be recovered in a period of 5 years and 6 months, which guarantees the viability of this proposal.
