Background: Bullying Victimization is a public health problem. It is necessary to know and understand the possible causes that are currently not clearly known, especially in less developed countries Objectives: The main objective in this paper is to identify the social determinants associated with bullying victimization in Peruvian adolescents using data from the “Young Lives” cohort. Materials and methods: An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted with data from the Young Lives cohort. We used the information of the third round of the older cohort it was conducted in Peru. We included 610 adolescents between 14 and 15 years old. Potentially associated determinants were explored by calculating raw and adjusted prevalence ratios with their 95% confidence intervals, using generalized linear models of the Poisson family. Results: The total of participants who suffered from bullying victimization was 61.3%. The third quintile of socioeconomic level was found to have higher prevalence with respect to the other quintiles (72%). Also, adolescents residing in urban areas (65%) and a dead mother (71%) had a higher prevalence. In the adjusted multivariate analysis, bullying victimization was associated with urban residence (RP: 1.37 IC: 1.13-1.65), third quintile of socioeconomic status (RP: 1.32 IC: 1.10-1.58), being Quechua-speaker (RP: 1.32 IC: 1.06-1.63) and be an orphan of a mother (RP: 1.65 IC: 1.37-2.01). Conclusions: This study found an association between bullying victimization and urban residence, belonging to the third quintile of socioeconomic status, having Quechua as their native language and being an orphan of a mother in Peruvian teenagers.
