Determine the relationship between coping strategies and academic stress due to virtual classes in medical students. METHOD: An observational, analytical, cross-sectional study of correlational type was carried out in 205 medical students 12 cycle semester 2021-1. The SISCO inventory questionnaires were applied to assess academic stress, and also the stress coping strategies questionnaire of Carlis Roy to assess the strategies used by students in the face of stress. The non-parametric Kendall's Tau b test was used. to measure the relationship between stress coping strategies and academic stress. RESULTS: There is a relationship between coping strategies and academic stress due to virtual classes in medical students. Since Kendall and Gamma's Tau-b statistical hypothesis test shows us a significant relationship when the p-value <0.05. that is why the following factors of coping strategies that are related to academic stress are the factor: Physical and focused reactions with a P value <0.001; and the factor: Know and relate to the value P 0.02; that is why and based on the significant relationship of the factors mentioned above, the alternative hypothesis is accepted. The level of stress presented by medical students in 79% is moderate. The most frequently used coping strategies against academic stress by medical students are: recursive and focused 97%, alert process 92% and knowing and relating 65%. The most frequent stress factors in medical students are: the overload of tasks and work, the evaluation of the professors, the type of work that the professors request. CONCLUSION: There is a relationship between coping strategies and academic stress due to virtual classes of medical students.
