In this investigation the characteristics of the properties of units of masonry and walls formed by concrete blocks in addition to shells of fan for the city of Trujillo were studied. Tests were carried out on the materials that were going to be used in the manufacture of artisanal concrete blocks, where confitillo was used with a TMN of 3/8 “from the quarry of“ Huanchaco “, sand from 4.25mm to 0.076mm from the quarry of “Caballo Muerto“, cement type I Pacasmayo and potable water of Trujillo, also a physical - chemical study was carried out on the fan shell at the University of Trujillo (LASASI), to be later crushed and incorporated into the blocks of concrete. For the analysis of aggregates, tests were carried out such as: granulometric analysis, moisture content, absorption, specific weight, loose unit weight and compacted unit weight to determine their properties and then perform the mixing design with a dosage 1: 3.44: 1.96 / 24.07 with a water / cement ratio of 0.55 according to ACI 211.1. Prototype block was made with the dimensions of 14cm wide, 19cm high and 39cm long, being cured for 7 first days to then make the piles and walls in order to evaluate the tests required by the E.070 (2006) , consisting of NTP 399.613 warping tests, absorption, dimensional variation, compression resistance with NTP 399.604, axial compression of NTP 399.605 piles and diagonal compression of NTP walls 399.621. In the tests it was obtained that the block with incorporation of 16% fan shell had a compressive strength of 26,475 kg / cm2 being 15% higher than the standard block of 22,890 kg / cm2 exceeding the minimum load established in the norm . Regarding the tests of dimensional variation, warping and absorption, results were obtained that complied with what is specified in the standard. In addition, it was verified that the greater incorporation of 20% of the fan shell, the compression resistance decreases. Finally, in the groups of piles and walls tested, a comparison was made with the handmade King Kong clay brick, obtaining lower results with respect to the minimum resistance established in the standard.
