Objective: To determine the Burnout Syndrome in physicians as a factor associated with dissatisfaction in the General Medicine outpatients service of the Jerusalen District Hospital. Method: An analytical case-control study was conducted during february 2017. The sample consisted of 74 patients, 37 with dissatisfaction and 37 satisfied. Results: The mean age of the patients was 37.85±13.73 years, the condition of the user represented 89.2%, the female gender comprised 54.1%; the secondary level was present in 41.9%, 74% were continuous users. Doctors had on average 50.67±11.57 years, with average time of service of 6.11±4.2 years and 66.7% were men. The Burnout Syndrome included 5 physicians (55.6%). The frequency of Burnout Syndrome in the cases and controls was 64.9% and 45.9% with no statistically significant difference (X 2 =2.68; p=0.102; OR=2.17; IC95%= 0.85-5.53). The mean age of the unsatisfied patients had a highly significant difference compared to the satisfied ones (48.43±9.2 and 38.7±13.52 respectively, p <0.01), and the type of user did not show a difference between satisfied and unsatisfied (p> 0.05). Regarding the 9 physicians, age, gender, and length of service according to the presence of burnout syndrome did not show a significant statistical difference (p> 0.05). Conclusions: Burnout Syndrome is not a factor associated with the dissatisfaction in the General Medicine outpatients service. Further studies are suggested including other care services or the same service within several hospital institutions.
