The purpose of this research is to generate technologies in the tilapia breeding (Oreochromis niloticus) that allows concentrating production in small areas of land, economizing the use of water, ease in the control of water quality and high production per area used; by means of a water recirculation system in symbiosis with an aquaponic crop, where the tilapia rearing system (open system against water recirculation system) was evaluated on the water quality and the productive behavior. This is necessary because in our region there are tilapia breeding in the traditional system that requires large amounts of water and large tracts of land, being a costly and unproductive breeding at this level. For this research was made use of the unit designed for experimentation in fish, located on Campus II of the Antenor Orrego Private University, where there were three evaluation modules, one open system and two water recirculation system (SRA) At 5 kg / m3 and 10 kg / m3, the two SRA modules consisted of three tanks coupled to the physical and biological filtration system with plant bed culture (lettuce). The results obtained in the average of the 60 days of evaluation gave the following results, for weight gain: SA (77.97 g), SRA5 (72.40 g) and SRA10 (41.70 g), food consumption: SA (193.16 g), SRA5 (263.45 g) and SRA10 (218.22 g) and feed conversion: SA (2.40 g), SRA5 (3.20 g) and SRA10 (5.32 g). Determining that within the water recirculation system not only the lettuce bed can be counted as a biological filter, but it is necessary to use a specific one for this function, for the reduction of nitrogen bodies, besides it is necessary to have water from replacement within the acceptable levels of hardness, otherwise there are no optimal results and little productive.
