The present study is quantitative, correlational, non-experimental in design, and is based on Callista Roy's adaptation theory. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between sociodemographic and work characteristics with burnout syndrome in nurses at Hospital III EsSalud in Chimbote, 2023. The sample population was made up of 30 nurses from the surgical center service, to whom two questionnaires on sociodemographic and work characteristics, also on burnout syndrome. Within the results it was found that 80.0% are women, 30.0% are between 30 to 40 years old and 41 to 50 years old, 63.3% are married or cohabiting, 46.7% have a child and 46.7% have their own home, 60.0% are appointed, 56.7% are satisfied with their salary, 50.0% have between 5 to 10 years, and 66.7% do not have a job extra institutional. Meanwhile, 53.3% of the nurses presented medium level burnout syndrome, 26.7% high level and 20.0% low level. It was concluded that age, employment status, job compliance, years of service and extra-institutional work are related to burnout syndrome in nurses.
