The present thesis made an analysis and comparison of the results between ultrafiltration and chemical flocculation method under the most appropriate conditions in each case, to reduce the content of iron, nickel and magnesium in the acid drain water taken from Cajamarca, Mine of gold and cooper located at 6° 40' 48“ S, 78° 31' 48“ W. For this report it has being set as parameters for assessing: the maximum permissible limits of Supreme Decree No. 010-2010 MINAM, the legal regulations of the National Environmental Quality Standards for Water and Decree No. 32327-S of Costa Rica which, is based on OMS recommendations. The pH, the coagulant and flocculent most suitable was determined for chemical flocculation method considering turbidity and conductivity of the samples obtained in jar testing. The most suitable flow and pressure obtained by the experimental analysis of the sample prepared with 50 liters of water and 7, 40 ppm of iron, selecting the parameters under which a further reduction of iron was obtained, was used for ultrafiltration.
