The goal of the study was to test the effect of the application of the “Mateaventuras“ training program for the development of problem-solving teaching skills in elementary school teachers of a school in Metropolitan Lima UGEL 06. This applied study was conducted using a quasi-experimental design of pre- and post-test with a control group. Twenty-eight teachers of both sexes participated in the study, 14 in the experimental group and 14 in the control group. As part of the methodology, the experimental group was divided into three groups: two groups of five and one of four teachers, since it was considered an adequate number of participants to guarantee learning during the training. To measure the effect of the program, a questionnaire on knowledge about problem solving based on the realistic mathematics approach was created, which included two dimensions: knowledge in methodology and mathematical competencies. The results showed significant improvements (p<.001) in the experimental group compared to the control group and compared to itself, both in general and in the dimensions considered. This program constitutes an important resource for the training of teachers in the realistic mathematics approach and in a virtual context.
