This study aims to reduce serious accidents in a company within the hydrocarbon sector through a supplier selection system. The high rate of serious accidents recorded in 2022, which reached 11 compared to the sector's 8, prompted the implementation of a model based on linear weighting and the TOPSIS algorithm. In this way, the selection of suppliers was optimized according to criteria established by a group of experts, with the most significant factors being safety and quality, to reduce the incidence of serious accidents and improve productivity. As a case study, this solution model demonstrated a 46% reduction in both the number of serious accidents and the lost man-hours of the suppliers. Additionally, the model had a positive economic impact on the company, achieving savings of 107,467 soles. The contribution of this work lies in the solution model, illustrating how the TOPSIS and linear weighting methodologies interact to achieve optimal results in selecting the best suppliers for the company, thereby reducing serious accidents caused by previous suppliers.
