The purpose of this work is to highlight the problem of noise pollution caused by road traffic and propose a noise prediction model that allows obtaining equivalent noise levels through vehicle counts, honking, and average speed. Two noise monitoring sessions were conducted at two points on Santiago de Surco Avenue over 12 hours. At point RA-01 (intersection of Tomás Marsano and Andrés Tinoco avenues), an equivalent noise level of 79 (𝐴𝐴) was recorded, and at point RA-02 (intersection of Santiago de Surco and Ayacucho avenues), a level of 82 (𝐴𝐴) was obtained. These figures exceed the allowed limit of 70 (𝐴𝐴) for a commercial zone according to the National Standards Regulation for Environmental Noise Quality. An excessive use of horns was identified, with approximately 10 honks per minute, causing discomfort to drivers, pedestrians, and residents. Subsequently, a multiple linear regression model was developed, considering variables such as light, heavy, and very heavy vehicles, honk frequency, and average speed per vehicle type. This model has an accuracy of ± 3 when predicting equivalent noise. Lastly, a form of mitigation is proposed with the purpose that this serves as a continuation for higher studies.
