Communication for development plays an important role in social inclusion because it breaks communication barriers and contributes to the development of people with disabilities. In this sense, this research work was carried out with the intention of proposing a communication strategy for development that makes sign language visible in the IEP. "Maria of Peace". The objectives set were: Characterize the current situation of sign language in IEP. "Maria of Peace"; determine the phases, objectives and target audience of the communication strategy that makes sign language visible; and, finally, select the actions and tools of the communication strategy to make sign language visible in said educational center. Qualitative methodology with a phenomenological approach was used. Likewise, two research techniques were applied. On the one hand, interviews were conducted with three experts in communication for development and two specialists in sign language. Added to this, two focus groups were held, one aimed at seven students and another at six members of the teaching, administrative and support staff of the educational institution. It was concluded that the educational community has a basic knowledge of sign language, but they recognize the importance of knowing it to promote inclusion. Finally, a participation strategy was selected with activities such as holding workshops, fellowship meetings and a fanpage to publicize the project and raise awareness.
