This paper addresses the problem of inventory shortages at EquiParts Perú., a Peruvian company engaged in the import and sale of spare parts for construction machinery. The specific objectives of the study are: i) to analyze the root causes of the inventory shortage, ii) to explore alternative solutions to the identified problem, and iii) to select the alternative that offers the greatest positive impact for the company. The need for this study arises from several operational and strategic challenges faced by the company, including technological deficiencies, insufficient staff training, and ineffective purchasing management, which together contribute to significant problems in inventory availability and affect operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. To address these problems, a qualitative methodology was used that included situational analysis using management tools, a review of relevant literature, and an evaluation of internal company documents. The study considered three main alternatives: the implementation of an ABC classification system, the adoption of an ERP system, and the application of the EOQ (Economic Order Quantity) model. The conclusion of the study proposes the implementation of the EOQ model as the most viable and effective alternative. This proposal not only solves the identified problems, but also optimizes maintenance and ordering costs, improves inventory turnover and reduces replenishment time, which will result in increased customer satisfaction and improved financial sustainability of EquiParts Perú.
