One of the biggest problems worldwide, and especially in the cities of Peru, is vehicle delays at different road intersections. This problem is evident in the city of Lima, where there is no adequate management of vehicular traffic. In addition, the road culture of drivers is poor, since they do not respect the lanes, and public transport drivers pick up passengers at informal stops, which generates congested roads. For this reason, a proposal for geometric and traffic light redesign is proposed on Alfredo Benavides, La Merced and José Ramírez avenues in the Miraflores district, with the aim of reducing vehicle delay and increasing vehicle capacity. Since the vehicular flow from west to east is very slow, many vehicles are trapped in the middle of this intersection, preventing the passage of other vehicles. For this reason, we want to mitigate the problem by implementing a sensor at the west access exit, which will restrict the passage of vehicles when long queues are expected to form that could obstruct other vehicles. This measure will be complemented with the modification of traffic light times and the geometric shape of the 4 accessories of the intersection will be redesigned. Consequently, the Vissim software will be used for the redesign of the tracks and the VisVAP software will be used to program the detector with logical conditions. Finally, the results will be compared between the scenario without proposal and with proposal considering a 5-year vehicular projection.
