This project focuses on improving the efficiency of biocontaminated solid waste treatment at the Police Hospital in Lima through the implementation of improvement methodologies such as 5S, SMED, and Autonomous Maintenance. The results show a significant increase in efficiency, from 42% to 85%, optimizing process times and operational capacity. From a financial analysis perspective, the project proved to be profitable and viable in the short term, with a Net Present Value (NPV) of 68,884.37 an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 30,74%, and a payback period of 3.43 years. In terms of environmental and occupational safety, the practices of Autonomous Maintenance and 5S improved the organization and cleanliness of the work area, reducing accident risks and creating a safe work environment. Furthermore, continuous staff training was key to the project's success, fostering commitment and correct application of the improvement tools. It is recommended to implement a continuous monitoring system to adjust performance indicators in real time, as well as ongoing training and periodic audits to ensure the sustainability of the improvements achieved. Additionally, it is suggested to develop a detailed instruction manual to standardize processes and, in the future, apply Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) to increase operational availability.
