This research was conducted in a Peruvian manufacturing company dedicated to producing friction components for the automotive and industrial sectors. The objective was to significantly reduce waste rates by implementing Lean Manufacturing, primarily through process standardization and the SMED methodology. The initial diagnosis revealed waste levels of 10.70% in material mixing and 9.18% in production, both above the industry standard. After implementing the improvements, mixing waste was reduced to 0.32% and production waste to 2.33%, achieving the goal of maintaining losses below 7%. Additionally, compliance with preventive maintenance increased from 51.32% to 94.74%, reducing failures and optimizing operational efficiency, which rose from 59.30% to 63.58%. These results project annual savings of S/412,465.42, demonstrating the effectiveness of Lean Manufacturing in cost reduction and enhanced competitiveness within the friction products manufacturing sector.
