Currently, the world of construction is growing and with it the rates of accidents and incidents at work have increased. Among the most frequent causes is the absence of personal protective equipment, the risk of death in the construction sector is very high. According to statistics, 79.1% of reported accidents are in the city of Lima, which is why this research proposes a solution based on artificial intelligence (AI) to improve safety at construction sites through automatic detection of non-compliance in the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as helmets, gloves and glasses. The methodology focuses on the use of video cameras strategically placed on construction sites, which capture images that are analyzed in real time by an AI system. The system is adaptable to different areas of the work and phases of the project, and can be reconfigured as site needs change. In addition to improving safety, this solution aims to maintain productivity levels, since accident prevention avoids work stoppages. The results showed that artificial intelligence has 40% better supervision compared to personnel, since it allows constant monitoring, thus avoiding accidents. In conclusion, this work offers an innovative tool to optimize real-time monitoring and improve safety in the construction industry.
