The objective of this research work was to investigate the relationship between the communicative approach and the learning of the English language in students of the fourth cycle of the English-Italian specialty at the Enrique Guzmán y Valle National University of Education. The research had a quantitative approach and was non-experimental and transversal. Its design was correlational, because it sought the relationship between the variables communicative approach and learning. The population and sample were 27 students of the fourth cycle of the English-Italian specialty at UNE. The technique used to collect data was the survey. The instruments for the same purposes were a questionnaire on the communicative approach and an English language knowledge test applying the KET Key English Test standardized by the University of Cambridge. The data were tabulated in Excel and the information processing was done using SPSS version 24 software. The results have been presented in tables and figures. After testing the hypotheses, it has been proven that there is a significant relationship between the study variables, which confirms the proposed hypotheses.
