This present thesis corresponds to a quantitative research of the non-experimental, transectional or cross-correlational type; that is to say, to study the relationship that exists between stress and work performance in workers of the Municipality of Tambopata of the Madre de Dios Region - 2017. To this end, the general objective of the research is to determine if this relationship exists and to what extent or level are related, understanding that the levels will depend on the degree of correlation that are obtained by application of statistical software. After sampling, a sample of 65 workers was determined, to whom two questionnaires were applied: one to assess stress and another to evaluate work performance. The Cronbach's alpha correlation coefficient was used to determine the reliability of the instruments that assess stress and work performance, obtaining a reliability coefficient whose values were 0.838 and 0.917 respectively. As results at a descriptive level, it was found that 70.77% of respondents have an average level of stress and the level of work performance is high, with 100%; This means that low levels of stress do not harm the level of work performance, however, obtaining an average level of stress, implies being alert and taking preventive measures to reduce the level of stress. At the inferential level, using the Spearman bivariate correlation coefficient, a negative value equal to -0.618 was obtained with a level of significance (p = 0.00 <0.05); This result confirms the existence of an indirect relationship between stress and work performance, so that, at lower stress, higher work performance.
