In Peru, the medical degree lasts 7 years. During the last year, students carry out the medical internship, which can be done both private and public institutions. During the internship, the intern is expected to improve their skills and knowledge to practice medicine upon graduation. Objective: The objective of this paper is to describe and generate a critical analysis emphasizing the aspects to improve of the clinical cases seen during the medical internship that influenced my development as a professional. Methodology: This is a descriptive and analytical study of the clinical experience during the medical internship between May 2022 and February 2023 at Detecta Clínica. Main results: In total, 30 cases were collected; 10 cases belonged to the internal medicine area, 7 cases belonged to the surgery area, 6 cases belonged to the gynecology area and 7 cases belonged to the pediatric area. It was possible to emphasize the positive characteristics in the diagnostic process, treatment, and comprehensive approach of the patient. In the same way, the negative aspects and the improvements that can be made in the future when exposed to similar cases were mentioned. Conclusions: The exposure received during the medical internship is a crucial stage in the development of medical students. This has allowed me to consolidate my knowledge and put into practice everything I learned during these 6 years of career. In addition, it allowed us to improve our doctor-patient relationship, which will help us provide quality care once we graduate.
