The desire for the possibility of educational improvement is one of the trends of internal migration to the city of Lima. Currently, Peru has the Scholarship 18 program that supports young people with high academic achievement and low economic resources with scholarships for higher education and financial support for basic services. This program covers the largest number of migrant students in the capital; however, there is a percentage of migrant scholars who go through a process of marginalization resulting in isolation and desertion from the program. The objective of this work is to analyze the factors that complicate the process of insertion of scholarship holders in the city of Lima. Then, to be able to understand the reason of the desertion, a psychological, social and cultural analysis was made through a mixed methodology: qualitative and quantitative approaches. The research concludes that the migrant students go through a process of psychological acculturation that is supported by the lack of a house with the necessary services and spaces.
