This thesis presents a proposal to improve the mechanical availability of the 785C mining trucks in the company that provides earthmoving services The improvement proposal is developed in the deposits in the south coast of Peru approximately 530 kilometers from the city of Lima in the district of Marcona, Nazca province in the Ica region in the open-pit mining operation owned by the mining SHOUGANG HIERRO PERU SAA. Currently contractor companies must optimize their equipment to the maximum, reducing their maintenance costs and increasing their production through mechanical availability. Many companies already have an established Comprehensive Maintenance Plan, but do not have the physical tools and software, which allows to develop and predict premature failures, stop equipment, which negatively affect the mechanical availability of equipment. This proposal seeks to improve the mechanical availability of the fleet of six 785C mining trucks in charge of land movement, implementing a tribology program focused on reliability to increase the average time between failures, minimize the generation of unscheduled stoppages and useful life. use of a series of records that have been compiled with the help of the operations personnel of the company. Reliability-based tribology methodology is mainly based on the use of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), a fundamental reliability-based maintenance tool (RCM) which is applied to tribological processes. of the failure modes, the functions of the lubrication for each failure mode, the effects of the failure modes and their probability of occurrence, the derived maintenance tasks are proposed, in order to counteract their effects, once implemented these tasks are they manage to control and reduce the registry of faults related to the tribological processes improving the mechanical availability of the trucks.
